Cat eye surgery, also known as canthoplasty, is a cosmetic procedure that lifts and elongates the outer corners of the eyes, creating an almond-shaped or “cat-like” appearance.
A small incision is made at the outer corner of the eye to access and adjust the lateral canthal tendon. The tendon is tightened and repositioned to lift the eye’s outer corner.
The surgery takes about one to two hours. Techniques are tailored to maintain natural eye function while achieving the desired lifted contour. Often combined with blepharoplasty for enhanced results.
Temporary swelling, bruising, and mild eye irritation can occur. Patients should avoid rubbing the eyes and follow specific care instructions. Most return to normal activity within 7–10 days. Follow-ups are essential to ensure proper healing and aesthetic alignment.
